Kirsti send me a pic she got from a friend with a lot of noise, and she asked me how I would go
about reducing the noise.
Here is the way I did it

Ctrl - J ( duplicate the background layer )
go to channels -blue channel
click on it
now go to filters-noise-reduce noise and work with some of the sliders
mine was set to
6
60
55
25
I did not tick the jpg artifact

but try other settings

If you have a question about photoshop, I am sure one of us in the club will be able to help !!

of course you will find that the image becomes softer, so you will have to use a layer mask to compensate where you want sharpness and where you can get away with softness/less noise

Yup NN is great, it keeps lumi and does a great detail and sharpens pretty noisless.
I use lightroom 2 and cs3 noise reductions lately but also pretty cool and subtle.
