President’s Message

Welcome to Langley Camera Club!

Our club was established about sixty-five years ago by a small group of five photographers who were passionate about their craft. Over the years the club has weathered many changes, most notably in the shift from film to digital photography. As technology advanced, new procedures and techniques used in the creation of photographic art were adopted with some wonderful and creative results. What has not changed, however, is the passion for photography that still flourishes with today’s membership of about 130.   This enthusiastic group of photographers includes all levels of skill from beginner through professional. Their interests are diverse with all genres reflected in their images—portraiture, photo journalism, landscape, macro, black and white, abstract, and nature to name a few.

Many activities are arranged to support the advancement of our craft. Image evaluations, skill development meetings, and presentations by experts in their specific genre of photography are offered   during our regular monthly meetings. Competition is encouraged, whether within the club or sponsored through Canadian Association for Photographic Art, for those who are interested. Once again we will be sponsoring the Fraser Valley Invitational, a friendly competition between camera clubs of the Lower Mainland. Outings are arranged to create opportunities for our members to practice their craft while enjoying the support and friendship of like minded photography enthusiasts.

We welcome new members and encourage those of you who may be interested in joining us to come to a meeting or to take part in one of our Photowalks. Follow this link for information on joining Langley Camera Club Photowalks Meetup: .  If you prefer to come to one of our regular meetings, our location and schedule are listed here:   Just register with our friendly greeter as you enter and we’ll arrange for one of our members to answer any questions you may have.

None of this would be possible without a team of people who volunteer their time to advance the objectives of Langley Camera Club. I am pleased to be part of this season’s executive team, a group of enthusiastic and creative people, and look forward to serving with them. We encourage your involvement, ideas and comments as we try to make this a season that supports your passion for photography.
