Hello Club,
What a great party we put on! The FVI 2010 was a great success and the event was enjoyed by all. Just a few of the highlights:
· The food! Congratulations to Angela and the entire team who satisfied us all with great, tasty snacks that were served on the fly and enjoyed by all.
· The prizes! Way to go, Glen! 75 great prizes for our 225 guests. What great odds for excellent prizes. And, as Jim Hatch said, Bill’s entertaining delivery was worth the price of admission alone.
· The print display! Way to go, club! Your pictures were well chosen, riveting and showed off our stuff well. And congrats to Glen for winning the prize as the most popular photo.
· The dancers! The two lovely young girls interpreted the theme of water in a way that, well, bet you couldn’t do that!
· The venue, equipment, sound and all the details worked well. We have booked the Chief Sepass again for next year. Thanks to Steve and Jim for taking care of all the technical business.

The Langley Camera Club has once again been invited to participate in an Art Sale, taking place at the Aldergrove Fair Days on July 24 and 25, 2010.
There is no charge to participate. We have been given a 20' x 20' covered space and will display our work on tables.
Presentation in all aspects will be up to you, the minimum being mattes and plastic sleeves to protect your photos from the elements. Also, no glass is permitted.
Space is limited for this event - interested photographers please contact Kathy or Paul as soon as possible as space will be given on a strict first come first served basis. While we realize that this takes place in July, and many club members are away, those members who are putting their work into the sale will be required to man the tables at some time during the event. Exact times will be worked out so it's equal and fair for all participants.
This year, the BC Summer Games will have events on an adjacent property, so the turnout should be excellent. For more information on Aldergrove Fair Days, visit: www.aldergrovefairdays.com
For more info about participating contact Kathy Neudorf at neudorfshots@yahoo.ca.
Camping, Camera Style
We are organizing a LCC summer camping trip this year, to Conkle Lake Provincial Park, a beautiful rustic spot about 70k outside of Osoyoos. This will take place on the Canada Day long weekend: Thursday, July 1 through Sunday July 4, 2010. The road in to the park is about 25K of secondary highway suitable for all except the largest recreational vehicles.
We have reserved the group site at this campground and would love it if you could join us. As a side trip we are planning a visit to Joybilee Farms, a working sheep/goat/rabbit/llama farm that specializes in hand spun and dyed yarns and goats milk soap. We have been given permission to roam the property with our cameras.
Please contact Paul or Kathy if you'd like to be a part of this exciting event.

CAPA Field Trip to Chinatown
Hello Fellow Photographers in the Pacific Zone
Please pass on a message to your members that I am planning a photo field trip to Chinatown on May 29th. The tour is open to CAPA members, as well as members within photo clubs of CAPA’s Pacific Zone. It begins at 9:15 am and should last into the early afternoon.
The tour route and itinerary is within the attached document. The included map is interactive and is located at
By clicking on the icons you can follow links to some sample photos of what’s in store or you can simply see the entire sample photo set at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/woodnut/sets/72157623304148872/ ……. click on “slideshow” at the top right hand corner of the page when it loads to see all the photos
A lunch venue will be determined once I know the numbers, and we closer to the date. The date is weather dependent so I’ll be looking at the long range forecast in May.
I’ll be arriving by public transit; the Chinatown SkyTrain station is within two blocks from the start of the tour.
Please have your members contact me directly if they wish to come.
Thanks

Competitive Success
By Arnold Richardson
I've been exhibiting and competing in the annual Associated Arts of Ocean Shores Photography Print Show for 12 out of the last 15 years, but this is my best showing. Ocean Shores is on Grays Harbor on Washington's Pacific Coast.
This year's show was held April 16-19 in the city's Convention Center and attracted some 90 photographers and over 300 entries chiefly from Washington and Oregon. So far, I am the only Canadian to ever have competed, but the organizers hope more Canadians will enter in the future.
This year, the judge was Jean Timmermeister, Vice-President of the Photographic Society of America. Jean was a presenter at the APAC Seminar a couple of years ago. The show's Chief Organizer told me Jean had given them some excellent advice on presenting shows of this kind and on club organization and activities.
The show has three entry classes: Professional, Non-Professional and Youth. I compete in the Non-Professional class. There are several categories: Abstract, Architecture, Digital Artistry, Flora, Landscapes, Miscellaneous, Ocean Shores (images taken within City of Ocean Shores boundaries), Pets, People, Still Life and Wildlife/Birds.
My images are
Damon Point 2nd. Place. Category - Ocean Shores (images shot within City of Ocean Shores boundaries)
Ice Huts on Lake Temiskamin, ON. Honorable Mention. Category – Landscapes
Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris. 2nd. Place. Category – Architecture
Pyramid Lake, Jasper AB. Best of Show, Non-Professional. 1st. Place. Category - Landscapes
The LCC members have seen all but the one of the Ice huts on Lake Temiskamin.
For Best of Show I won $150.00 and a beautiful glass sculpture. It's always a pleasure to visit Ocean Shores. The Olympic Forest is to the east and north and with the Pacific Coast offers excellent photographic opportunities.

Congratulations Arnold!
